⚡ Profile Class 01 / 02 – Pricing Rules (Read This Before Asking)

⚡ Profile Class 01 / 02 – Pricing Rules (Read This Before Asking)

Short version (for speed readers)

  • 01 / 02 meters are not supported for general pricing

  • There is one exception: Smartest Energy

  • If Smartest will take it, that is where the sale goes

  • Minimum EAC rules still apply

  • No loopholes. No retries. No “just checking”.

🧾 What are 01 / 02 meters?

  • 01 = Domestic unrestricted

  • 02 = Domestic Economy 7

These are domestic profile classes, not business meters.
Yes, even if the site has staff, a till, and a sign that says “Ltd”.

❌ Default position (this is the rule)

We do not price Profile Class 01 / 02 meters.

Why?

  • Most suppliers will reject or cancel post-live

  • Settlement fails = no D19-flows = no commission

  • MHHS is tightening validation, not relaxing it

Trying to “just see if it goes through” wastes time and achieves nothing.

⚠️ The only exception: Smartest Energy

Smartest Energy is the only supplier that will consider 01 / 02 meters — and only under strict conditions.

This is an exception, not a new standard.

✅ Conditions for submitting 01 / 02 to Smartest Energy

You may proceed only if all of the following are true:

  1. The supply is genuinely commercial in use; and

  2. A current Business Rates bill is provided; and

  3. The site meets Smartest Energy minimum EAC requirements

  4. The customer will be expected to undergo a meter upgrade and topline upgrade. If refuse = no commission.

Miss any one of these → do not submit.

📄 Proof requirements (non-negotiable)

Accepted

  • ✅ Current Business Rates bill showing the site address

Not accepted

  • ❌ Council tax bills

  • ❌ Utility bills

  • ❌ Lease or tenancy agreements

  • ❌ Photos of the premises

  • ❌ Emails explaining why it “should count”

  • ❌ Anything creative

No Business Rates bill = no submission. End of discussion.

🎯 Where the sale goes

If Smartest Energy will accept a compliant 01 / 02 site:
👉 That is where the sale should be placed.

There is no:

  • “Can we also try another supplier?”

  • “Can we just get a comparison?”

  • “Can we see what rates look like elsewhere?”

If Smartest is the only door open, that’s the door you walk through.

🔁 Want wider supplier choice?

Then the process is boring, slow, and unavoidable:

  1. Customer arranges a meter upgrade with the supplier

  2. Customer requests a topline / profile class change

  3. Wait for ECOES to update

  4. Then submit the sale

⏱️ ECOES timing (read carefully)

  • Upgrade confirmed at 08:00

  • ECOES still shows 01 / 02 at 08:01

This is normal.

ECOES does not update instantly.
Re-sending the same sale or chasing internally does not speed it up.

We may request proof once ECOES reflects the change.

🧠 Final reminders (please absorb these)

  • 01 / 02 = blocked by default

  • Smartest Energy = only exception

  • Business Rates bill = mandatory

  • Minimum EAC rules still apply

  • ECOES must update before broader submission

Or in plain English:

No upgrade, no proof, no ECOES change, no EAC = no sale.

If you are unsure, re-read this article before raising a ticket.
Asking again will not change the rules; it will only shorten the reply.
